Association Outing - Sept 2nd

September sees us taking an outing to Nottingham. We will be ringing at five towers and travelling between using the tram. See our events page for all the details, including parking, towers and tram information. There is also a programme sheet that can be printed and downloaded.

If you are coming along, please email our secretary so we can get an idea of numbers. (Her email address is on the events page.)

Walk & Ring - August 5th

Our August meeting was a walk, lunch and ring. The walkers met at Barlaston church to boot up before setting out on a picturesque 3 miles around the local countryside. This was followed by lunch at The Upper House, where we were welcomed despite our boots. More ringers joined us later as we finished the day with ringing at Barlaston.

The photograph shows some of the walkers after crossing a field of cattle. Our thanks to Margaret Carnall and Ros Daybell for organising the day.

Safeguarding of children and young people is an important issue both at a tower and an association level. The Association has therefore appointed a Safeguarding Co-ordinator, produced guidelines for tower captains, and policies and procedures for association events.

Copies of the documents can be found on our Publications page. They can also be obtained from our Safeguarding Co-ordinator, Ros Daybell.

Surprise Minor Practice

Bernie Payne and Rob Barcroft are organising a monthly Surprise Minor Practice at Horton on a Wednesday evening. The first one was on Wed 19th July when eight people rang Cambridge, Primrose, Ipswich, Norfolk and Norwich.

The next meeting is 16th August at 7:30pm when they will aim to ring a selection of methods from first practice plus Beverley and Surfleet. If anyone goes on holiday eight is a fairly marginal number and the idea is to encourage more people to try these methods as well as give practice to those who already can. So if you fancy a bit of Surprise Minor, give Bernie an email. Details are on our events page.
