Quarter Peal Week - April/May

Our quarter peal week takes place from Sat 29th April to Sun 7th May. We are not expecting acrobatics like the lad in the photo, but we are hoping to score a few quarters and enjoy a social event on the evening of quarter peal day on Sat 6th May.

Details of the the centrally organised quarters have now been sent to all participants. If you are expecting to take part but have not received this information, please contact Phil Gay.

Proposed Rule Change

The Association committee are proposing changes to the way committee operates. This will require changes to rules 13 and 14 of the Association. A notice detailling these changes has been sent to all towers with a request to display it on notice boards.

The changes will be proposed at the June business meeting. We need a quorum of 30 to make rule changes, so would be grateful if as many members as possible attend this business meeting.

April Meeting

Our April 1st meeting was at Checkley and Draycott in the Moors. Checkley bells were first to be enjoyed. They are an easy going six in a modern ringing room, but the anti-clockwise hanging almost caught out one or two people!

After tea at Checkley we moved on to Draycott for some eight bell ringing. We managed to ring special method Pudsey here before going on to the Draycott Arms to finish the evening.

Our thanks to Checkley and Draycott for hosting this meeting and to all the helpers at Checkley for the traditional ringers' tea.

Forthcoming Events

Sat 29th April to Sun 7th May - Quarter Peal Week

Tues 16th May - Tuesday Daytime Band: Whittington & Drayton Bassett(tbc)

Sat 27th May - Training Morning: Ringing and conducting Call Changes

100 Club

The Association is running a '100 Club' to raise funds for the Bell Restoration Fund. The way it works is that members pay a subsciption of £12 and are entered in 5 draws in the year. There will be four prize draws, usually at business meetings, and one Superdraw at the Association's AGM. If fully subscribed the first prize will be £50 at the prize draws and £100 at the super draw.

So if you would like a flutter in aid of a good cause, please contact our 100 Club organiser, Chris Adams.
